What's better than a piano (trick question: nothing ?)? How about two of them?!? I'll be joining Thomas White for some piano duet goodness today at Purple Cat Vineyard and Winery from 1-4pm. This is a rare event to see people setting fire to the pianos (maybe, literally :)) What will we play? Find out this afternoon!
Welcome
Joe Godfrey is a pianist and educator in southern New England. He holds degrees in Jazz Studies (MM) from the University of South Carolina and Jazz Performance (BM) from the University of Rhode Island. Performance highlights include performing at the Newport Jazz Festival, East Providence HeritageFest, and PVDFest. Joe performs in many venues in the New England area as a soloist and as a member of a small ensemble. Performance examples include business/social functions, wedding ceremonies and cocktails, restaurants, and church services.
Joe currently teaches piano for the RI Philharmonic and Music School, the Rhody Center, and privately. He has taught summer camps, private lessons, small classes, and coached jazz combos at the University of Rhode Island and for Friends of the Music Mansion. While passionate about jazz music, Joe was classically trained from the age of 14 and maintains a classical repertoire. He is comfortable in a range of genres, including rock, R&B, jazz, pop, and classical.
With a wonderful blend of jazz, country, rock, and contemporary music, Trish & Friends have been delighting audiences for many years. I will have the honor of joining them for this show!
I will be performing a unique blend of jazz standards, well-known classical pieces, and music from the last 50 years with a jazzy twist!
I'll be joining Al Testa for a fun night of jazz, blues, and pop!
