Joe Godfrey Piano

Welcome

Joe Godfrey is a pianist and educator in southern New England. He holds degrees in Jazz Studies (MM) from the University of South Carolina and Jazz Performance (BM) from the University of Rhode Island. Joe performs in many venues in the New England area as a soloist and as a member of a small ensemble. He is often first-call for events such as weddings, social events, business luncheons, and celebrations of life. Performance highlights include performing at the Newport Jazz Festival, East Providence HeritageFest, and PVDFest.

Joe is the Music Director for Slatersville Congregational Church where he directs the adult choir and provides music for weekly worship services. He currently teaches piano for the RI Philharmonic and Music School and privately. Joe has taught summer camps, private lessons, small classes, and coached jazz combos at the University of Rhode Island, RIPHIL, and Salve Regina University. While passionate about jazz music, Joe was classically trained from the age of 14 and maintains a classical repertoire. He is comfortable in a range of genres, including rock, R&B, jazz, pop, and classical.

Next Friday (5/10) I'll be playing in a very special concert. I am joining my college piano teacher and mentor Joe Parillo in the final concert of the Spring series at the Music Mansion! We will be playing several piano duets of original music, jazz piano trio with his band, and some tunes with flutist extraordinaire, Wendy Klein! This will be a memorable event.
